I like The The Railway Cleveland

Had to buy a new scale. My old one had its batteries die and there was no discernible way to open the battery compartment to change it without breaking the darn thing and/or using a jackhammer. Tossed it, looked online for a new one, liked the reviews for this, and bought it.

As mentioned in other reviews, it’s a tad tricky to tap it hard enough and in the “sweet spot” to get it to come on, but once it does, it appears to be very accurate (catching fluctuations before and after meals, drinking water, etc). I can even put my 14 and 35 lb dogs on the scale and it catches slight changes in their weight too. Impressive!

My scale was also missing the batteries–box said they were included, but mine were nowhere to be found. Not a dealbreaker, though. A solid 4 stars!

For USB Retractable Cable forever

When you’re all grown up, with a family to feed and a demanding job, it’s not so easy to read books anymore. Bad books are stealing time that is much more precious than when you were living at mom’s house, or in a dorm. If you’re like me, you can’t afford the time-cost of the “try it and see” method of book selection. I can read one novel a month, and it had better be damned good or I’ll feel cheated. This is one of those books that is worth the time. I have never written an Amazon review before, but after finishing Water For Elephants, I decided to break my silence. There’s a reason you’re seeing so many positive reviews here. If you’re still undecided, let this review be the one that sets your mind.

I just received my scale today. After an easy setup (install included batteries, set on floor, get on and off the scale ONCE to allow the scale to enter a self calibration mode) and when calibration was complete, I was able to weigh myself repeatedly with the same weight results returned each time, to the decimal (.2 pound increments.)

Just to be clear, calibration is only necessary when installing batteries or when the scale is moved. Otherwise, the scale truly is “Step-On” and weigh yourself (no more tapping the scale to turn it on as noted in many of the reviews of the earlier model sold until sometime earlier this month, March 2010.)

The scale has a nice finish and feels solid below my feet even though it has a small footprint, which I like.

SO! A thumbs up from me. Now I need to go lose some weight… if only that was as easy as setting up the scale! :)

Today about 8 Thomastik 1 Vision

I had a number of step counters. I hated wearing them on my belt – I gave up pocket protectors years ago. But if I put them in my pocket, they always reset. Indeed, many of them would reset on my belt due to my arm brushing against them. The Omron is a miracle. It’s made to be put in your pocket. I have tested it by waling 100 paces with it in my pocket and it is inevitable accurate. It’s not so large as to be annoying – it’s about the size of a car key fob. And it has loads of extra features. This is clearly the best pedometer out there and well worth every penny

When this book was referred to me by a number of friends I thought that I should seriously read it. After reading it, I am deeply thankful I did – it completely didn’t clear up anything. As eloquent as this book is and as much wonderful conversation Mr. Walsch has with God, life’s mysteries are still mysterious.

In confronting religion, I applaud the book’s view – it is one that I subscribed to, which is to say religion shouldn’t hold back your relationship with our heavenly Father (these are my thoughts and not the book’s).

Get your brain and think about this one. It will help mature your relationship with God and focus your energies in the right direction!

Fisher Gallery University Afrika change

A very charming novel by a bright author. I was worried about reading this because I can’t stand reading anything about animal abuse. But somehow Gruen writes so poignantly that I didn’t find myself cringing at the animal abuse as much as I did about the characters and the story. The ending isn’t as good of a redemption as I would have liked (you will find out what I’m talking about) but it’s good enough and such a pleasure all the way through. Especially if anyone has a Polish background it will be even more entertaining for you. I highly recommend this different book about old circuses, old folks and young, and those who like a romantic twist and of course, animals.

Why must Cherry

What did I just say? Awesome! Okay, the heart rate function, if you’ve become used to a Polar watch (like I had) seems a little secondary in this. But it’s there, and it will do the things you want. Just don’t expect to stare at your HR on the watch while working out. But hey, Awesome!

Sick about Roll Into Freak N

While The Black Crowes have made some amazing studio work (Amorica, Three Snakes and One Charm, and most recently, Warpaint), they have always remained a great live band. Freak and Roll Into The Fog is just that….a fantastic document of one of rock and roll’s hardest working bands for the last 20 years at the Filmore in San Fransisco, August 5th, 2005. This 2CD set contains the Crowes at their most exciting, rawest, and most energetic. Chris Robinson’s voice is top notch, and the interplay between the guitarists Rich Robinson and Marc Ford is chemistry in the making.

The set begins strangely enough with the rarely played (Only) Halfway To Everywhere, which turns into a funk-soul jam with an incredible guitar solo by Marc. Sting Me and No Speak No Slave are given the royal treatment, and sound more amplified then they do on record. The 11-minute Soul Singing is unbelievable, featuring a psychedelic jam that might as well be a new song. Welcome To The Goodtimes is next, a faitful version with horns added for better emotion. Jealous Again is just good, honest rock and roll.

The real centerpiece though, lies in the 13-minute My Morning Song, one of the Crowes best. A long winding powerful jam erupts in the middle, and the “southern rock and roll preacher” part just seems to last forever, that you don’t want it to stop. Finally, when it comes to the chorus, it is highly cathartic and reminds you of why you love this band in the first place.

The second set begins innocently with acoustic guitars, with strange interplay between Rich and Marc on Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz. Then, an incredible unplugged version of Cursed Diamond is next, with Chris ’s powerful emotional singing at front range. She Talks To Angels is next. I never cared for this song, but they do it well here. Wiser Time and Nonfiction (both from Amorica) are also respected well here, the latter turning into a strange Pink Floyd-esque jam with Dave Ellis on soprano sax.

Finally, the Crowes get even m
