The new iPod touch 3rd generation is easy to use, has great apps and the speaker/voice functions are extremely enjoyable for tech folks. I bought this as a gift and my teen and she loves this device! Definitely received the best price via Amazon and delivery was prompt! Highly recommend!

My Garmin 265WT portable GPS unit arrived last month. Included with it was the window-shield suction mount. I tried it and it worked OK. It was a stable mount, but somewhat of a security pain-in-the-neck. Since security is an issue nowadays with portable GPS units, I had to remove the suction mount from the windwhield in order to hide it away each time I exited my car. Then, I had to re-attach it to the windshield again upon re-entering. I subsequently searched the Internet for alternative mounting devices. Nearly every user product review recommended the portable friction mount because of its ease of use and stability. I purchased one, and have been using it ever since. It has great stability due to its lockable “bean-bag” base, and I am able to install/uninstall it in seconds. It definitely is the way to go.

So, I’ve finally let myself get a kindle. I resisted it for some time, but now I’m very happy to have it.

The getting and reading of books is just effortless, so elegant and easy. My problem, ironically, is in the storing of them. I would like to create some virtual shelves, stack all my sci fi on one, all my mysteries on another and my romances on a third, just like I do at home, so when I get a hankering for a genre, I can just browse the appropriate shelf.

But they don’t have covers, which is often how I remember unfamiliar books, or easily accessible blurbs, so you have to click down a few layers to figure out if this is the title you remember and frankly, the titles are the least of the things I remember about the books. The plot, the characters, but the titles? esp of a series? I can’t remember which Laurel K Hamilton book is which, or which Stephanie Laurens is which. I need to see the covers, and even then I sometimes have to turn them over to see the blurbs. No so simple in kindle world. So I’m paying even better attention to my [...] page, setting up my shelves very carefully there, so I can look up my werewolf tag, and then look at the 36 books that show up, chose one, and then get it off my kindle… but I have to say, ipad does that one bit much better.

But the kindle is light, sweet and so easy to use. And I had to promise myself that I wouldn’t go crazy, and I’m only downloading one book at a time – no creating a massive tbr pile in the virtual world (can u imagine? it would never end!) but I am downloading tons of sample chapters, already rejected a few books because of it, and the freedom of actually reading 15 or so pages will allow me to browse more widely (and buy more books, I can see it already)

I love to read plain and simple. Reading was heaven sent to a precocious but poor child living in a very rural area and continues to be for a professional adult.

My husband purchased it for me and I didn’t think I’d like it because I love the feel and to hold a book, but after using the Kindle I laugh at this concern. It’s the best gift he’s ever given me.

Kindle is great for all of the reasons stated in the previous review, but there is more. Almost every week there are new releases on the Amazon website that are free for a couple of days. I go on the Amazon website during my work breaks or the weekends and find new books and authors all the time. It’s greatly expanded my reading world.

Kindle does not have color though and if you like to read a lot of magazines, then maybe it’s not the choice for you. I don’t read magazines and since I also don’t read children’s books, the Kindle is perfect for me and like readers.

As an “elite” status traveler, the Kindle is also great. Do you know how much you can waste on books having to buy them in airports? It can be astronomical. I don’t have that problem any more having the Kindle. I also love how long the battery lasts. Mine will last anywhere between 1-2 weeks on a single charge.

Kindle has the text to speach, but it sounds like the old Merlin game so I don’t like it. You can also put music on it, but I prefer my iPod touch for music. Speaking of which, you can put the Kindle app on your iPod, laptop, desktop, or other device and read all of your books that way too. I currently have more than 600 books on my Kindle and have only spent about $150 to get them.

I know some people are wanting the iPad for their reading device, but iPod charges you for all of the things a Kindle can do and the iPad will likely end up costing your ~$1700 to do the same as a Kindle– not worth and extra $1500 to gt all of the add ons!

Ultimately though it’s up to the user’s preferences to determine which ebook device is the one for them.
