The Help is probably the best novel I’ve read this year. In fact, it was so good that I didn’t even ask myself why it was so good until I’d finished it. It was like being a kid again, when I got so completely absorbed in a story that it was more real and vibrant than my own life.

But returning to my analytical adult reading habits, I will now attempt to explain what exactly it was about this book that so enchanted me. I actually think the author herself said it best in her afterword:

“I don’t presume to think that I know what it really felt like to be a black woman in Mississippi, especially in the 1960s. I don’t think it is something any white woman on the other end of a black woman’s paycheck could ever truly understand. But trying to understand is vital to our humanity. In The Help there is one line that I truly prize: `Wasn’t that the point of the book? For women to realize, We are just two people. Not that much separates us. Not nearly as much as I’d thought.’”

As a white twenty-something from a northern suburb, I know even less than Kathryn Stockett about what it must have been like to be the characters in her book. But after reading The Help, I understand just a little bit more about how people not so different from myself lived in the south during the Civil Rights movement.

Stockett skillfully writes in three different first-person voices: two middle-aged black maids and a white woman in her young twenties. The three of them decide to write a book chronicling the experiences of over a dozen black maids who work for white women in Jackson, Mississippi, despite the very real danger of such a project.

The Help explores the power of honest storytelling and the complexities of women’s relationships. It is written beautifully and powerfully, and I highly recommend it.

Instructions loop around but don’t resolve the problem with connecting to the internet. Can waste way too much time on this. Don’t even want to try doing this all again with tech support. Much more fruitful to bag it and do more constructive things.

Simply like the settings and the memory ability. The only problem is it is a little big to put on the belt. But if you have a handbag, you can clip inside and it works great! It counts accurate too, as I tried to count myself and compared with it.

Having used the old time scale, it’s frustrating that it seems you can weigh more/less depending on which way you are leaning. With this scale, you step on and get a fast, accurate reading which is very important when you are trying to lose weight.

I bought this vacuum, and I was so excited to use it from all of the good reviews it got on here. The first time I used it I was truly impressed with the amount of cat hair (I have a black, long haired cat) the vacuum picked up. The bag filled up quickly, but buying more bags is not too expensive so that is another plus. Personally, I prefer bagged vacuums over bag-less because bagged vacuums keep the dust and dirt in the bags more effectively rather than just dumping the container into a garbage can and having dirt and dust fly all over the house.

The only problem I have had with this vacuum is during the second time I tried to use it (I was moving out of my apartment) and it just stopped sucking anything up. I had to take it home to ask one of my family members to look at it, and he said the belt broke and needed to be replaced. This was only the second time I have used the vacuum, so I was quite a bit angry that it broke so easily.

Hopefully the belt won’t break for awhile. If that is the case, then I will truly be satisfied with this product. If the belt keeps breaking, I will unfortunately have to purchase a new vacuum. I say unfortunately because I really like the strong power this vacuum has to suck things up.

Everything is excellent on the ipod, the only thing that could be better is if the battery life was a little longer, but it is easy to recharge, so no big deal.

I bought this product based on the high reviews, and it did not disappoint. It is easy to use, and does a great job.

The Nintendo Wii does not disappoint. In addition to the super fun motion Wii remote control, you also get a game (Wii Sports). Plus, the Wii has a full Web browser and you can connect to the Internet for free. I just downloaded Super Mario Brothers 3 for the original NES. This thing rocks!

This product was for my 8 year old daughter. Yes I had to set it up on Itunes but she loves it and uses it all the time.

I first read “The Catcher…” while in High School as a required reading assignment.
My impression of this story was so great that I started and finished in one go. It is the book that got me interested in reading. As a result, I purchased this book as a gift to my grandson who happens to be an advid reader at the age of 5 years.
