Solid Light

The in Tidbits Lord the best

My husband and I love the Wii! We have spent many hours playing and improving our skills. You won’t be disappointed! An added benefit has been being able to downstream movies from Netflix. We had no idea we would be able to do this!

This is my second iPod Touch. I owned a 1G iPod Touch which went through the washing machine and came out very clean but non functional.

I use this mainly for reading books using Stanza. It will hold a lot of them. 64GB is a crazy amount of space. I fit my entire music collection, all my pictures and still had room left over. Lately I’ve cut back my music to what I really like, and I’m ripping my DVD collection into MP4’s and loading them onto this device.

Recently I spent 12 days sailing on the ocean and this was my book reader, music player, and video player. It is just about all you need in a slender package.

In the past I used those rubber covers. I liked that they would stick and hold this in position when I put it down. However, they did not hold up. Now I use it without a cover, and I’ve dedicated my front left pocket to this device alone–to prevent scratches.

There are lots of aps out there. I like Things, and Stanza the most. It is good for games, but why waste your time with that when you could be reading. The only game I play any more is Sudoku–because it puts me to sleep at night.

Battery life is good. I adjust the brightest to the lowest usable setting. Most times I use it at night, so it lasts a real long time for me. I have an external battery made by Griffin for long plane rides. I find I don’t use that much. It is better to carry along a charger and an extension cord, and plug in before you get on a plane–while waiting. When I do that I don’t seem to need the external battery.

It is a library in your pocket for music, books, and videos.

Cons:

It is wifi only. I’ve found that most places I go to often offer Wifi-so I can check my email and web browse.

As a web browser, it works, but not very well. You constantly spend your time resizing things so you can read them, and the contracting them to see the whole page again.

Price? Maybe, I feel it is well worth the price. Apple products are products done right.

Golfer Get Well s series

First let me say, do not waste your money. If you buy this you are paying $200 to have an ugly piece of white plastic sit unused on your entertainment center.

It should be obvious that it is a terrible system when the best game (Wii Sports) comes with the system. It is the best game (at 1 star in my opinion) and sadly it loses it appeal after about an hour. What really saddens me is that when you get the Wii and spend all this time on a Mii you find out later it is basically usless in all other games.

It is a money trap:
There are so many peripherials it is ridiculous and somehow Nintendo manages to make so that we almost have to buy these at extra cost just to make the gameplay somewhat enjoyable.

You got Mario Kart and want to play, you have to get a wheel to go around the controller.
You want to play golf? You are conned into buying a attachment that makes your controller more “accurate”

Which is funny because in most games you can try to play it and be all serious and use strategy, all th while your 6 year old nephew is waving his arms randomly like he forgot his ritilan and he still beats me in games. I began to discover that the games really arn’t calibrated for strategy but really just for movement. In most game you can move your arms aimlessy and with no direction and the results would be the same as if you actually tried. SO what fun is that? I want challange and skill to play a factor. What is the point if the effort you put in does not have any effect on your gameplay. It really is a cheat.
The graphics are not much better than the PS2, well worse actually, and the gameplay is worse. What really angered me was the controller. At first it is fun waving your arms around like an idiot but after a while you just wants to sit down and play a video game. But it is impossible to play sitting down. SO when I am feeling lazy the Wii is not an option. And for those of you that think the Wii Fit will make you skinny…. Read the Game Informer review online.

Is Immersion Toastmaster 2 1740 suck?

Regular blenders and food processors are such a pain to clean up and store. I recently became a vegan (mostly) and a lot of the recipes call for mixing hot liquids. The food processor I have just didn’t get the liquids smooth enough, and the bowl was hot and awkward to handle. Then it was a royal pain to clean and lots of pieces to put away. Regular blenders would get the bottom part blended really good, but not the top part. So you have to push the stuff down and it makes a huge mess.

So along comes the hand blender and it was only 10 bucks! I love this thing! To blend the hot liquids, I don’t even need to remove them from the pan. Making stuff like tofu sour cream is a breeze too. Very little mess and just run the bottom part under running water to clean. It is about the size of a long and narrow knife, so it takes very little space to store. I don’t even store it away, though because I use it so much and it takes up like no room at all on my kitchen counter.

I’m not pitching my food processor because you wouldn’t want to use this to chop or shred, and the blender is still better for making things like smoothies. But this hand blender is what I use the most for sauces and stuff like that.

Combination 10 Ultimate XP lies

A great product… The only thing I don’t like is the battery life. If you are going to be on the Itouch for very long you will need to plug it in… I have purchased an additional battery charger (MP1550 TekCharge Mobile Power Battery Charger) that uses double “A” batteries. It has worked well so far when I am not using the outlet charger from an older Nano. If you are going to purchase an Itouch, I think you will need to purchase a charger of some type as well…
