This is the best novel I have read in years.
Was drawn into the lives of the characters within the first few pages and couldn’t put it down until I read the whole book.
The Author’s writing style is very fluid and I loved the development of the characters, I actually cared about them and hated to see it all end. I did think the end was a little abrupt, maybe I was wishful thinking there would be an epilogue to see how all my new friends had fared in the future.
I read some of the negative reviews, only a few of them I might add.
I think people that are critisizing have all “been there” in that time frame and “it wouldn’t have been like that”
That’s the beauty of FICTION. Ms Stockett did not say this was a history book; but I would wager a fair amount of what occurs in the book is more fact than fiction. I’m sure a movie will be made but it will not compare to the written version.
I will re-read this book again and again.
