Mad about OF TROLLEYS LOWER DELAWARE

I love my Garmin 305! I wasn’t sure I would care about the Heart Rate Monitor but after a month of use I am so into it. I only wish the “training center” software would be updated and that it was easier to edit.

S TROLLEYS FORT WAYNE headache

I’m an American living in a wealthy neighborhood in Mexico… We all have help here and the similarities were painful to read. Minus the civil rights struggle and racial violence, the dynamic is the same.

The ladies of the house are generally of European ancestry and their help are of indigenous descent. Class lines are painted with a heavy-handed brushstroke, and there are unspoken rules: maids don’t eat at the dining room table with the family, they don’t express opinions, and they use the bathrooms in the service quarters, never the family’s bathrooms.

My Mexican husband was reared by a nanny who’s been with the family for 38 years. She changed his diapers, wiped his nose, rocked him to sleep, kissed his boo-boos, and shared in his boyhood adventures; she now calls him “sir.” Although she’s a cherished member of the household, she’s not considered family. My in-laws are one of the “good” families however, and they’ve always treated her well.

We currently have a maid and when we have children we’ll have a nanny as well. Rumors are that maids here love working with American families, perhaps because they’re treated with more respect.

I really enjoyed this book and I’ll be recommending it to ladies down here. Hopefully, they’ll have a little more appreciation for the women who are changing their children’s diapers and ironing their husbands’ shirts.
